Preserve the past, protect the future: the reorganization of the Castiglione plaster collection with innovative solutions for security and conservation.
In March 2022, the Municipality of Lierna undertook an important initiative to reorganize and optimize the spaces of the large warehouse housing the Castiglione plaster collection. The reorganization project, entrusted to the Arterìa Safe Tech team, was conceived with the goal of preserving this historically and artistically valuable collection in the best possible way.
The first phase of the project involved the supply of shelving and bases specifically designed for the storage of fragments and busts, creating an organized and easily accessible environment. These new storage systems not only optimize space utilization but also ensure the safety and protection of the works, reducing the risk of damage during their conservation.
Additionally, a microclimatic control system was installed to monitor and maintain optimal environmental conditions within the warehouse. This system is essential for the conservation of the plasters, as it allows for the monitoring of temperature and humidity, preventing the deterioration of the works over time.
Finally, to ensure maximum security, a state-of-the-art anti-intrusion alarm system was implemented. This system provides additional protection against theft and vandalism, ensuring that the collection remains safe and accessible only to authorized personnel.
The warehouse reorganization project represents a significant step in enhancing the cultural heritage of Lierna. Thanks to these interventions, the Castiglione plaster collection will not only be better preserved but also more easily accessible for future exhibitions and studies.
